Hitomi Memorial Hall Tokyo Japan

After over eleven minutes of glorious soundscaping the sudden appearance of applause reminds us that a) this is a King Crimson gig at which members of the audience are listening to soundscapes (this is not always the case) and b) this is a King Crimson gig and the rest of the band have just joined the ‘scaping guitarist.

The second night of the Japanese tour gets properly underway with a sprightly but nevertheless incisive reading of Level Five. After the conclusion of One Time, Adrian appears out of the sonic silence to say “It’s wonderful to be back in Tokyo”, which nets him a round of polite applause from the home crowd. “We all love it here. Can we move here?” he adds referring either to a desire to relocate to Japan or a query regarding the venues seating policy.

Such weighty considerations are thrown to the wind thanks to a shuffling drum n’ bass vibe not normally heard on EleKtriK and an especially powerful FaKcts Of Life renders the whole “Can we move?” conundrum moot as it stomps the place flat. It’s unlikely the audience had any time to catch their breath as the group quickly go on to raise everything to blissful heights thanks to the diaphanous waves of The Power To Believe Part 2. Stunning!

Great Start To A Great Leg
Krim's 2003 Tour of Japan is something I have been waiting to hear for a long while, and now that it's hear I am so happy. The tour is off to a great start already with a beautifully mixed and near perfect performance. The only wart might be the slightly rough VROOOM that ends the show but everything else about this gig is a must hear.

I’m very happy that we get another show from ’03 and this one’s a scorcher. I have all the shows that are currently available from this year and this one rates high on the list in terms of performance. The band are firing on all cylinders here and you can feel the energy. Highly recommended!
