Fiera Di Milano Milano Italy

Crimson are really on fine form here at this outdoor concert, continuing the kind of first-class performance they’d turned in at the previous show.

Right from the very first note of Thela you can tell that Crimson are in the house and in total command of the stage tonight. Strong, assertive renditions of Thela, Red, and Frame By Frame whip along like there's no tomorrow. Little wonder Belew lets fly with a satisfied "yeah!" at the end of a flawless energy-rich version of Dinosaur.

A sprightly, quick-on-its-toes 3OAPP makes a return tonight with a lovely snaking solo from Fripp and Gunn, and then it's off into the ambiguous bleeping and droning of B'Boom. "It's a great spectacle to see the co-operation between Bill and Pat, the rythm goes from one drum to the other one" observed Franco Renne. B'Boom certainly highlights the force these two are capable of, but the gigs as a whole show how much room they were able to leave for each other to work in.

After the darkness of Thrak, a ray of sunshine is clearly needed. For fan Max Bracco, this was one of the highlights of the gig. "Specially impressive among the old songs were Waiting Man (even more polyrhythmic than ever), and Sheltering Sky with wonderful solos.” Max is right o nthe money - Gunn’s smooth solo lines are wonderfully lyrical and beautifully judged.

Schizoid Man is a real belter and as Max comments “You can argue as much as you want about the opportunity to play this old, damned, devilish hit but hearing live 21st Century Schiz once again is a BIG THRILL! RF and Belew even played a twin duelling guitar solo in the middle section.”
