Book Of Saturday (John Wetton)
Following on from the Epitaph playback earlier in 1997 which saw the 1969 lineup reunite, The Night Watch event in September brought together the Larks’ era quartet and lyricist Richard Palmer-James to launch the release of the 2CD set of their legendary Concertgebouw concert back in November 1973.
Additionally, guitarist Tony Geballe and Tony Levin were on hand to play and talk about their own new releases, Native Of The Rain and From The Caves Of The Iron Mountain respectively, and John Wetton, as Robert Fripp explains, had flown in that morning from a gig in Italy the night before.
Book Of Saturday had been in John’s solo repertoire for some time as well as during his stint with Asia. For those 600-plus fans hearing it played alongside his fellow band members in the audience and with whom he last performed it 24 years earlier, was especially poignant.
