30 October, 1994 Fashionable

This track is now available for download as part of a bumper collection of Mr Stormy's Monday Selections - his second year of random romps through the murky, cavernous DGM archives, torch in hand, fedora upon his head.

Although Fashionable had been kicked around during the Vrooom sessions (it appears on KCCC 8) it was deemed not to have made the grade. Down but not yet out, the piece was resurrected once the team set up camp at Real World to record Thrak. This version has some interesting shifts of emphasis from undeveloped rendition laid down earlier in May at Woodstock - notably Tony Levin’s ascending line during the intro, some sculpted fills from Trey Gunn during the middle eight sections, and of course the high-register lattice work from Fripp. Despite such additions and refinements, ultimately the track was dropped onto the cutting room floor at Real World never to see the light of day until its rescue by Mister Stormy.

Wow!
This is almost like KC for girls :)...cute, catchy and even danceable.

Cute song, great to hear this line-up again.
If nothing else, this song is a pleasant reminder of what a great line-up the Bruford/Levin rhythm section with KC was. So refreshing to hear those familiar styles and sounds behind Fripp and Belew, again. BB and KC playing on auto-pilot or even warming up are still more amazing than 97% of the bands out there. Thank you Stormy for presenting this song - wasn’t sure I’d ever hear anything from that line-up again. This made my day! Indeed, the best KC for me is one that contains Bill Br...

All I can say is, praise you Stormy for sharing this gem of a song with us. I wish Crims would do more stuff in this vain. This is the type of music that this group(i.e Tony, Adrian , Bruford, Fripp) excel at: tight, rythmic, counterpoint. This track is blazing from beginning to end. All it needs is a really heavy dark solo a la Fripp over top of it and perhaps a middle bridge to break it up. Don’t give up on it yet.

Excellent Tickle!
One of the best tickles I have downloaded, thanks Mr. Stormy!I wish this song had actually gotten into THRAK, I (as a fan) don’t see why it shouldn’t. Reminds me of the Discipline trilogy sound.
