Another snippet from the band soundcheck is today’s bonus feature as the LOG roadshow rolls into Berlin. It’s a different riff to the one that was thrown around in Dijon, spikier and more organ-driven. The organ is put through its paces as the set proper with Andrews going for an especially dissonant approach during Trap.

To these ears this sounds like gig that’s perfectly acceptable though whilst not ever quite catching fire. It does however, provide us with a lovely example of how small things can make a difference. At around 58 seconds into Christian Children..., Fripp slides between notes, creating a yearning-quality to the tune which it doesn’t usually have. Coming in on the build-up to the main theme this tiny addition to his usual approach here really ups the drama of the moment.
