This track was one of Stormy's Monday selections. It is currently unavailable, but will be part of his next bumper collection. His sixth year of treasures from the murky, cavernous DGM archives, is now available for download.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic Pt 1 was a composite of different ideas and notions that were gradually built up and honed from early rehearsals through to the one UK tour the quintet managed during the autumn of 1972.

In the studio these ideas were further refined. Some were quite fixed but others were more fluid. This section finds Cross and Muir working on what Crim referred to as the 'section section'. It's a fragile moment in the suite as a whole and it's somehow even more delicate in the studio here. As you can hear, had the first version not been nixed when Muir's autoharp inadvertently moved, we might have ended up with a different sounding section.

It took Cross and Muir several attempts to get the take that we all know, but that initially elusiveness in 1973 has enabled fans in 2014 to hear for the first time how this section slowly came together.

Lovely
Thank you for another glimpse.  At the 35 minute mark of ’Keep That One Nick’ we hear two other passages of this section.  It is wonderful to have another 5 minutes of this magic being conjured.

Muir and Cross delivers some magic. Images of some lamas’rituals in Tibet come to mind...
