An excellent show. This lineup cooks. One can only dream what might have been. Now can anyone tell me where the 2/12/72 show at The Academy of Music
in NYC is. Is it hiding on a dusty shelf in the vault? There must be a recording somewhere. We have the show before & the shows after. It has to be out there. It was a phenomenal show.The boys brought the house down. I know I was there.

I believe the Wilmington Armory was located next to (or near) Union Park Pontiac. Having left the area many moons ago, I have no idea if that car delaership is still in the same location as it was some 30+ years ago. The room was basically a basketball court-sized gymnasium. KC opened for J. Geils Band.

At last, the mighty Wilmington show has escaped, home of the Earthbound Groon and THE definitive live Schizoid Man but lo ? what is this? That was the second show and this latest offering was the earlier set - Damn and blast, foiled again however.......Pictures is up to it’s normal delivery with perhaps a tad more improv. than normal? Formentera is lovely however the segue to The Sailor’s Tale seems a touch confused and Robert’s solo is not particularly inspired. Cirkus is lovely as ever followed by Ladies of The Road. Normally an opportunity for vocal tomfoolery by messrs Boz and Walllace they seem to get the vocal order correct whilst Robert again seems pre-occupied, almost messing up the solo and getting lost in the ending. Groon is inspired, Mel trying out the sax riff that will become the Eathbound jam whilst Robert is content to chord along, Ian rattles around the kit in the normal fashion with the VSC3 only arriving late in the song. Schizoid is very close to the Eartbound version with Robert’s blistering solo a rough blueprint , the solo winds down and just when you expect Mel to enter with a sax solo he doesn’t and the song reverts back to the fast unison riff. These released 1972 concerts makes you realise how consistent Mel Collins was, fine sax blowing at every gig. Bravo DGM (now can I have the second set?... please?
What is the Armoury in Wilmington? July 9, 2008

I am a resident of Wilmington, DE and a big Crimso fan but this gig is from before my time. Does anyone know where this show took place in Wilmington because there is no theater called the Armoury today. Is it the former Scottish Rite temple on Lea Blvd? Btw, show is excellent - highly recommend. Minus one star for fidelity so 4 stars overall.
