I must confess a certain attachment to the Revox & Les Paul era Frippertronics work that cannot be put into verbal terms. "Let The Power Fall" and "God Save The Queen" are amongst the most often listened to albums in my history, with a quest to find MORE! being a lifelong journey. Obtaining this set has been fulfillment of that yearning and might very well be the current existing ultimate example of Pure Frippertronics available. The sound quality is impeccable -- even over a cell phone’s speakers, this stuff is hot -- and the breadth of the four improvisations is the most ambitious yet presented as far as the Frippertronics concept goes.
The scope of "Loop 3" even dwarfs "The Heavenly Music Corporation" at 23 minutes of sonic experimentation that does not contain one dull moment, with sections of music as grand as any to be found on a side-long composition from your favorite art rock epic. You can imagine him continuing the loop almost ad-infinitum, making one ponder the question of what the longest duration loop Fripp ever recorded with the Revox’s was? What would have been the limitations? "Loop 1" also weighs in at 17+ minutes of awe inspiring improvisation, built architecturally into a mammoth of sound that ranges all frequencies. "Let The Power Fall" was awesome, and "God Save The Queen" maybe even more so, but this set is a masterpiece as far as the pure looping process goes.
While my first choice recommendation for DGM Frippertronics shows offered here has to be the 1979 Chicago set from Sound Warehouse due to the live audience element, this is your second stop for the sonic wonder that was Revox era Frippertronics in epic form. The other sets have some great solo work done over the loops which completes the process as the Artist envisioned, but this collective reflects the looping as a pure form in its most ambitious level of execution. One aspect I always admired about the pure Frippertronics is how the concepts of patience and foresight played a role in the improvisation: The patience to allow passages the room to evolve within a fixed time continuum, and the foresight to guide that evolution in a manner very akin to weaving a tapestry of sound. It is perhaps on these loops that Fripp demonstrates his patience & foresight on the grandest scale yet released, and I can only hope we get to be treated to more of it soon!

You couldn’t ask for more from a Frippertronics backing tape. It has everything you’d want...from the soothing relaxing hypnotic type to the intense riveting angry loops. From what I can gather this is exactly as the tape box read...the loops created at both of these shows July 5th and 6th, which normally were about half an hour for each show and then Robert would rewind the tape and solo over top creating a performance that lasted roughly an hour with usually some discussion with the audience surrounding the music. A source who attended the WCMF studio show remembers that Robert had a very bad cold and was apparently in a lousy mood as a result. Strangely when faced with additional challenges such as these, it sometimes results in exceptional music. This is definitely an example. Killer stuff !

This collection of Frippertronics is a most welcome release in more than 30 plus years for those old enough to remember the initial flash of energy from the initial release from the small mobile intelligent unit. Although the recordings are 30 years old, they contain the energy and optimistic hope of tomorrow’s possibilities. Thank you again after all these years Mr. Fripp!

I am one of the subset of Frippertronics fans that prefers the loops without the solos and respectfully submit that nothing is missing here. Amazing you-are-there sound with the Flac download.

What a fantastic release! These late 70s Frippertronics recordings bridge to gap between the early/mid 70s "No Pussyfooting/Evening Star "era and the "Let the Power Fall" stylings of the early 80s. Would love to hear more unreleased Frippertonics of this era!

What a wonderful release !!. Reminds me of good times i 1979 : Glypotket, Copenhagen in May 1979.
I never get tired of Fripps solo output in 1978 - 80.
This is groundbreaking release. It took 31 years to arrive and the sound is mint and...oh boy....what a set !

Very dramatic at times and stunning frippertronics. The sound quality is very good too, there are moments that you find yourself in between differant realities, time is falling astern. Thank you, Mr Fripp, Mr Stormy and DGM!!

I love this live Frippertronics recording, thank you for making it available.
I have a very pedantic observation to contribute - that it is most likely WCMF, not WMCF, if I have my Upstate progressive rock radio stations of the
70’s straight...(probably where I first heard In the Court...!) not that it matters anymore, they have mutated into something strange and terrible meanwhile.

Once again, DGMLive has struck gold with the unearthing of some excellent vintage Frippertronics loops from Mr. Robert Fripp - this time from the WMCF Studios in Rochester NY. There are many similarities between this and the official Frippertronics album "Let The Power Fall." Both feature pure Frippertronics loops without Robert’s soloing on top. Each of the four loops in this download have different qualities and moods but together, they make a cohesive whole much like a four-movement symphony. My personal favorite moment is during Loop I when Fripp builds a wall of sound using inense low notes. It literally sounded like the walls were going to come apart. All in all, this is definitely some historic stuff and is truly amazing. All of Robert Fripp’s Frippertronics and Soundscapes downloads (and CDs) have amazing moments to offer and this one is no exception. Thanks to Stormy, Fripp and DGMLive for once again bringing a hidden treasure to the forefront. Great stuff.

Excellent!!! It’s a kind of excitiment that refers back to the Fripp & Eno days but which you will not find in in the soundscapes of Fripp’s later days. I can see the development of soundcapes but I do prefer the wild and simultaneously stunningly beautiful loops presented here. Mr. Stormy, Mr. Fripp, DGM, thanks for making this one available! That would be worth a major release for sure!!
