This Soundsculpture has a intense energy level. Which is a real refreshment. Especially Splash is like a wonderful fresh shower with sparkling waterdrops!!

Robert Fripp strike’s gold again with another album-length Soundscape known as "Sound Sculpture". This 70-minute piece was created as pre-show background music for The League of Crafty Guitarists concerts in Buenos Aires this past June. While people were entering this concert hall, this music is what was heard. As a standalone piece of music "Sound Sculpture" is nothing short of breathtaking. It is very similar to "Glass and Breath" in parts but overall has a more haunting and mysterious quality to it. While the music is minimalist at best, there is a slow development over the piece’s long running time with different variations heard among the fixed repetitions. After 70 minutes of soothing and tranquil soundscapes, the listener is suddenly jolted back to reality with the 50-second coda entitled "Splash". Much like the crashing chord in Haydn’s "Surprise" symphony, it’s meant to wake the listener up big time. The bell sounds that follow the crash almost seem like sparks after an explosion. With all this said, Fripp’s "Sound Sculpture" is another winner in his long-running Soundscape work and is an excellent companion to "Glass and Breath". The fact that this is nearly 72-minutes of quality music given away for free makes this even more special. Here’s hoping that Robert Fripp will be releasing more Soundscapes of this nature - stark, bare, minimal but above all, simply beautiful.
