I was present in this show. After living in Barcelona for some years it was my first oportunity of watching King Crimson, and I was very excited. It was a really hot day and The temperature inside of Zeleste was especially hot because the air conditioned did not work well. I do not understand how the musicians could stand on that conditions. It was not clear which formation we were going to watch. There were different rumous. It was clear that it was not going to be the double trio. So, I expected the classic Fripp-Belew-Levin-Bruford formation. Instead of that, it was the Fripp-Belew-Gunn-Mastelotto group. The music was also unfamiliar to me. They sounded very like a hard-rock group. Nevertheless, they sounded strong and cohesive throughout all the night. It seemed like they were playing for many years like a group and with this material. It was especially interesting the playing of Trey Gunn and Pat Mastelotto. The role of Gunn in the double trio it was not clear to me. But now, its presence was strong and his playing was very fluid. I also enjoyed the work of Mastelotto. Of course, Belew and Fripp played very well. Perhaps, it seemed more like a group work without individual solos than in other occasions. My only reservation is about the songs they played. For my taste, "the construkction of light" is not the best material they can play. And in fact, I like more the "Power to believe". Nevertheless, is a question of taste, and it is difficult to criticize their playing. They were superb all night. For instance, their version of  "prozakc blues" was extraordinary powerfull. The "improvs" are also very interesting, and they seemed relaxed and creative compared with other themes. I think that many listeners can enjoy a lot with this show. And I am especially grateful to DGM for publishing this show. Thank you!

Good humoured , powerful and apparently flawless performance. Crackles and fizzes with energy throughout. An essential purchase recommended without reservation. On the Asbury Park level. Read more
