So... the Holy Grail did exist, and it happened to be a recording of KC from the Jamie Muir era. I don’t like giving ratings, but just for being such a rare item, I guess it deserves the 5 stars. The band was still far from being as tight as it would in the next two years, and some of the songs perhaps still needed more rehearsal (LTIA part II comes very near to the feared train wreck many times, and, as I listen to it, I feel BB was paying more attention to what Muir was doing than to what he was actually playing), but there are other moments that offer different perspectives of this band and where it could have gone had Mr. Muir decided to stay longer.

Appart from that, I can easily do with the sound, though there is quite a bit of distortion in the loud parts. Anyway, a great surprise, and I hope more of this kind come in the (near?) future.

Also better than the three good-to-great KCCC releases that feature Mr. Muir. Bremen is perhaps the closest for me, but this does beat all of them. This concert contains the only 30-minute KC improv (or any other improv for that Read more
