Robert wasn’t kidding when he mentioned some time ago that (I’m paraphrasing here) the first of anything has its own inherent power by virtue of it being the first of its kind. He could’ve been thinking about this gig. I certainly am now.

While not perfect, every single attempt at musikcing is strongly coherent, with strengths evident and leaps abounding like you wouldn’t believe. A slight flaw here or there does nothing to detract from the energy, and their collective power as a unit is held integral throughout the performance. The previous experiences of the other ProjeKcts seem to lend their strengths to this performance, but aside from this, this trio seem to fly or fall on their own terms here, with not a single fall toward Earth so much as the occasional dip downwards into a lower altitude. These never last long, as the soaring picks up again pretty quickly.

"Foot Note" is a wonder to behold; it has all the bits that contain my favourite piece of ProjeKct music (heard near the end of Masque 13 - starts at 1:38 and then lasts around a minute and six seconds). Here, when presented, it does sound like a lost opportunity that the team doesn’t jump on - a revelation to one used to hearing it differently. Nevertheless, the piece itself has other potential ideas, which moves one to wonder if those other ideas were heard, too, and whatever became of them. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank P@ publicly for pulling out that strand of opportunity and turning it into a glorious painting on "Masque."

Overall, a stunner of a gig, with bristling energy. It’s the King as a power trio in the purest sense of the word. It sounds fantastic, and contains many moments of just plain badassness and creative fire. Well worth checking out.
