      LOG Dooley's August 11, 2009
Written by rsimonse
This was my first purchase through DGMLIVE.com and I made it a safe one as League of Gentlemen are my favorite short-lived band of all time. Their tone and character is so individualistic, quirky, fun, and professional all at the same time that I can’t help but be satisfied with hearing the same tunes with a new coat of paint. I love the original studio vinyl album as well but these live recordings are where the group reveals each nook and cranny of their personality. I won’t go into the songs individually because it really comes off as one whole set (with a couple duplicate tunes thrown in for the sake of not going down the path of covering KC to the disappointment of certain members of the audience) -- and in the end it’s the energy that counts -- consistently turning new corners and finding a new dance partner along the way. It’s actually just as well that LOG didn’t stay together any longer than they did -- I’m sure it somehow couldn’t have continued with the same flair for long. And besides that, Discipline was influenced all the better for having experienced this Fripp encounter.

LOG is the thinking man’s punk & dance band. Shame how short lived they were. The LP studio recording that I bought at release date did not show the band truly as the recording lacked dynamic range and Read more
