What the setlist doesn’t show is that "One Time" through "Elephant Talk" is played without pause, as if one big medley -- very effective. The mix is typically strong on separation, drums and vocals, making it easy to appreciate Pat’s work. Trey Gunn is not so easy to discern, but he finds ways of adding interesting harmonies and textures.

This is a band finding itself, and doing a good job of it: The rarely-performed "Discipline" and "Fashionable" (titled "Funky Jam" here) were soon replaced by other songs, both old and new; "People" provides an example of the latter, here almost fully developed though still instrumental, and a surprisingly strong "Sleepless" shows how well they could interpret material from previous editions.  I have no idea what "stonking" means, but in September 1994, lots of potential was being exploited, and this is a fine example.

P.S. The second version of "Red" sounds even better than the first -- no doubt  fired up by the abundant enthusiasm from the audience.
