   I'm not 16 anymore May 24, 2008
Written by James999
what I mean by ’I’m not 16 anymore’ is that, hearing Indisipline with the long intro..in this case the tickler ending before (way before?) the chord-changing thrashing begins...it just does’nt hold me as rapt as when I used to hear it when I was 16. Or when I heard it at the pier in 1982; with Bill Bruford doing almost a dance as he hit his percussion (while Robert watched from stage right, in tuxedo). Its the intro to Indiscipline- 1 cord strummed in time, with the drummer(s) having a license to thrash/improvise. Wow. I’m not Sherlock Homes, but seriously. What are we supposed to be going on here? Sigh. Its cheap. Who knows? Maybe those ’new’ fans (the new 16 year olds that every ’pro’ rocker would like to have as their fanbase) will get it. Yea that must be it. Yep, you hooked them there.

master(s) in the moment Mon., May 13, 2013

What really needs to be said: just listen to a master drummer in the moment--playing improvisatory and intuitively while at the same time reacting to Tony Levin’s bass (fretless?) underpinnings (who in turn, reacts to the percussive Read more

Great sound Mon., May 6, 2013

I love the Frippertronics of course, but the lecture and Q&A were excellent. A clear, cogent, honest explanation of his development as a guitarist, for one thing. The demo of the use of the fuzz box to overcome the "feebleness" Read more

It’s a curious phenomenom in modern artistic endeavor. In an age when performers and self-proclaimed artists alike take measures to "close the distance" between themselves and the audience, such efforts are often disingenuous and Read more
