Robert Fripp’s performance was indeed a little winded by the Roland Guitar Synth this night. There are two tunable distortion synths plus a master tuner which are all rotary operated knobs and therefore very easy to disturb on a dark stage. The GR300 synthesizer is not midi controlled, certainly not in 1982 and my own unit has numerous other eccentricities. This was also my first KC gig some time after 3 evenings watching the incredible League of Gentlemen - at all of which Mr Fripp was most approachable. All in, King Crimson played fabulous music, with a slight flounder during Sheltering Sky. I had no regrets over pawning my twelve gear racing bike to afford the ticket. Now - Albert Hall 1995 is something else again.

The Missing Link? Mon., Mar 22, 2010

Or one missing link, anyway. I’ve wondered how Frippertronics transformed into Soundscapes; this seems like an early step in the process. Kind of an odd set of sounds -- doesn’t have the focus and intensity of Frippertronics, nor Read more

Not typical, but recommended Mon., Mar 22, 2010

I had to dowload this one, that day was my 18th birthday! This doesn’t sound very Fripp-like. It actually reminds me at certain points of the tracks (or atmospheres, using their own words) Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois produced for Read more

This track just came up while "shuffling". I don’t think I ever played it back when it was released as a "hot tickle" - had to look it up to see who was on Read more

Much as I love the rough, clubby atmospherics of the ’Thrang Thrang Gozinbulx - Official Bootleg CD release I cannot understand why this performance was passed over in favour of those Read more

I have heard poor quality bootlegs of LoG before, but this is like a ride in a Cadillac limousine! What I hear is a rhythm section that is hard and tight as a Read more

The sound quality almost matches that of the "God Save The King" CD. This is a must download if you want to hear clean versions of the songs that did not make it onto the Read more
