Intriguing January 26, 2009

These are the Stormy selections I do treasure - these intriguing insights into the recording or rehearsal process of the earliest line ups. I personally am one of those who doesnít really like or "get" the Lizard album and I donít think it showed what that line up was really capable of. These snapshots from the studio prove amply that Gordo and Andy were a good rhythm section and itís nice to hear their playing "close up".
It therefore throws new light on a rather misunderstood line up of Crim in the same way that the DGM live releases of the Boz line up has enhanced the reputation of that band proving they were great and that Islands again, like Lizard, didnít show what they were truly capable of.

This show was my first encounter to the Crims!! And so it was kind of an awakening for me! A friend of mine and true KC-admirer (he is a hobby-drummer) took me to the show with words like "to fully Read more

Maybe itís the bongo drum sounds (samples?), or the Michael Karoli vibe in Adrian Belewís guitar repetition, but I hear something resembling classic Can at work here...of course some of those more subversive early í70s German bands were Thrakking long Read more

Really chock full of kinetic energy. I would have happily sat through a whole 90 minute set of just this type of faux "improv".

Thereís more than enough energy in this concert to carry me through the uneven bits. Red is hot and heavy, Thela has good Belew guitar-twisting and some nice beats from PM, FraKctured is hot and sloppy, One Time is Read more
