The Power is Still Falling October 19, 2008

Thanks again Robert for this gem from the vaults.
Aside from the poor sound quality I can see why this did not make the cut on the album. It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to Let the Power Fall but this song seems much faster paced than the other pieces. The progression of the song is too quick and doesn’t allow the listener enough time to settle into the mood and then suddenly it’s over. Still, a great addition though to the Frippertronics library.

"fleeting smears of notes ..." an apt and evocative description from the webmaster.
Id have to agree that the second piece is a real stellar standout. Sublime and scintillating.

There was word floating around(Musician magazine?) that the ’81 Crim was possibly considering adding "Breathless" to their repetoire. Would that this was so.

This is quite beautiful. Fripps’ reading is excellent and the musical accompaniment is perfect for these lovely gray, sad poems. I find Fripps’ profane in between poem banter to be really Read more

Many times listening to Soundscapes I had deep associations with the Renaissance music (especially Franco-Flemish composer I have recently heard, Guillame Dufay). Not only because of the sacral character of his music, but also in terms of polyphonically constructed compositions Read more
