Welcom to prom night! January 30, 2012
Written by mnewstrom
The title was Adrian’s salute to the venue, very a propos for the seated audience who were in fine fettle that evening. For me, fresh from a distressed period of my life, this was a very necessary break. As noted, the band was in excellent, excellent form. I was seated middle about five rows back, right in line with an amp; not sure my hearing has recovered yet! Delighted in watching the headbangers in the front row, bopping along with both Dinosaur and Red. Vividly remember the woman ahead and to my right, dancing exotically to ELEKTRIK (didn’t know hips could move like that). I remember mostly a joyous feeling of being so surrounded by such wonderful music, a band so willing to share that music, and an audience that I don’t think got out of line. While standing for the final applause, in my enthusiasm and gratitude, I gave the band two thumbs-up; I think one musician returned the favor (or is it just my playful imagination?). Marvelous music from marvelous musicians, when I really needed a boost. Thanks so much to all for letting the music flow!

This isn’t much of a review. I just wanted to express how wonderful it was to listen to this gig at full blast on the iPod. As much as I love the work of T-Lev this has to Read more

An Oyster Soup In A FraKctured Frying Pan Wed., Jan 18, 2006

My immediate allure to this show was the chance of hearing another live version of FraKctured. There is some exceptional playing to be found throughout this show, particularly by Belew: his solo on Oyster Soup sprays sonic shrillings all over the Read more

How they should sound Wed., Jan 18, 2006

This release brings to the fore the worst aspect of the regular CD releases - the regular releases are too clean. Compared to the download series, they are too proper. This release reminds me of the band I Read more

Crim at their best Thu., Jan 12, 2006

I attended two shows of this late 2003 tour (Boston and NYC) and this astonishingly confident performance reinforces my memories of a group at the height of their power. RF’s demented organ-grinder solo on Dinosaur is one great moment among Read more

2003 was, I think, one of the strongest live bands to play under the name King Crimson. Of course, we know what that means: they need to break up. Fortunately, we have recordings like this to remind us of just Read more
