Another Stormy Selection Gem with Fab-Foot-Phil. March 30, 2009
Written by matthusela
This is another gem for us Exposure era completists. This one seems to have a bit different flavor to it which makes it a great addition to the nice little collection of Exposure outakes that Mr. Mundy has given us through his selections.
And Phil Collins- Here’s a guy who, if you rolled back the clock to 1976 or so, you would have sufficient respect for as a great drummer more than filling his role in a great prog rock band. If you only rolled the clock back to 1982 or so he would still be all of that AND a great songwriter, drum recording pioneer, jazz-fusion drummer with Brand X, and here, Fripp collaborator. No amount of subsequent mushy number one ballads can take away the history.

I remember the two nights at the Marquee very well indeed as it was my first Robert Fripp related concert. My recollections of the banter include several vociferous requests from an inspired raconteur/punter, for Fripp to play some Read more

This show was the first concert recording I had heard from this era. In fact, I had gotten a hold of this recording before I had listened to “Lizard”, so to me, this version of “Cirkus” was the first Read more

Who’da thought The Beast could be this soulful? You can see where a completed piece such as this could have ended up in this version’s ouevre. Shame there isn’t more.

I so wish this were longer than a minute. I’ve never heard Fripp play quite like this, and I like it! Has a Stax/Volt flavor but with the fast jazz flourishes characteristic of Fripp’s playing during this time Read more
