A Whole Lotta Hartford Goin' On June 19, 1996
Written by Mike Stack
Last night was the G3 show in Hartford,
so myself and two of my friends headed over to check out RF, basically. Showed
up around 6pm or so, were checking
out the merchandise when we heard RF starting up. Headed in, checked out the
show. He played from 6-7:20 or so, sat off to my left (we were pretty much dead
centre). Lots of interesting stuff, seemed to be a lot more chordal strumming than
on the albums he's put out. At one point towards the end of RF's set, some
idiot started screaming and yelling and banging the chair in front of him.
Fripp got louder. Idiot got louder. Fripp got louder. Fripp also looked
somewhat annoyed at this point.
A few interesting notes about RF's performance
-most the crowd didn't give a damn, including some guy dressed all snazzily
in his business suit, who didn't shut up the whole night.
-RF occasionally got up, took off his guitar, and walked further to my left
to talk to someone else. Don't know who.
-RF wore a white shirt untucked and black pants, while switching to a black
shirt during the encore (more later...).
-No one smoked anything illegal during Fripp's set, something that couldn't
be said for the rest.

Love this German tour... Sat., Apr 13, 2013
Posted by: jeffoaster
The concerts from the German leg of Crimso’s ’74 tour are all top notch, and all bring something special to the table. There are some interesting nuances to this show. There is nothing particularly special about the opening improv and Read more

This recording’s mix is clearly presenting Trey’s contribution to the double trio on right channel. Highly recommended (and headphones).
Cheers Ps. of course, the rest beside Trey is fantastic as well :-)

Of Stick And Slit Drum Tue., Mar 19, 2013

I’d recognize that 17/16 pattern anywhere!
Wonderful to hear *just* the "rhythm section" especially the modulation in the second half of the piece when Bill switches the percussion from the more genteel slit drum accents to the heavier boobams, rototoms Read more

A Testament to George Chkiantz Thu., Mar 14, 2013

Whenever I hear recorded evidence of King Crimson in 1973/74 I’m reminded of the superb audio recording/engineering talent(s) of George Chkiantz! Each instrument can be heard clearly in the overall mix: the guitar occupying its proper space, a full Read more

More please... Wed., Mar 13, 2013

Judging by this performance and the Atlanta one the following week, Crimso were really on fire at this point - moreso than usual. While the sound quality isn’t pristine and has some occasional dropouts, it is certainly listenable Read more
