This piece certainly makes my day. Lizard has always been my favourite Crimson album and I only wish Mr Fripp would be willing to issue a Lizard box with all the bits and takes that didn’t end up on the final product - like the Beach Boys did with Pet Sounds. I’m probably not the only one here who thinks those first four albums are the best. I’m inordinately fond of the subsequent Starless period, mind, but I consider Lizard a crowning achievement. Thank you, and keep them coming!

better sound   Thu., Jun 13, 2013

This actually sounds better then the one with the oboe version. I mean this from the sound quality point of view. My wife who is an oboe player is practicing her version of the oboe solo which I might Read more

i was really looking for one particular early 70s KC show that hit all the bases in terms of the early repertoire, and for me this historical first-ever live performance from the Islands line up is Read more

Terrific debut of this lineup   Sat., Dec 1, 2012

So here we have the first ever performance of the Boz/Collins/Fripp/Wallace lineup, and they don’t disappoint. Really terrific sound quality is a bonus addition to this concert. Unlike the Larks Tongues lineup debut at the same venue the Read more

Short and... sortof sweet   Sat., Dec 1, 2012

I guess the primary reason why I bought this one was because of the lower price, and it’s not that bad of a show. It’s just not anything great or essential - there are plenty more concerts available from the Read more

Mel Collins is a beast   Thu., Oct 11, 2012

The performance on this one is certainly a five star, and except for the audience portions of the concert (i.e. the first 2:30 or so of Get Thy Bearings are almost unlistenable before a jarring return to the SB portion), Read more

An excellent recording all around   Sun., Sep 23, 2012

First off - the sound on this one is brilliant. The playing is astonishing and shows just how good of a player Mel Collins is. Two things that really standout out: The Improv (which would soon be replaced by Groon in Read more

All tied together with great vocals & lyrics, Happy Family is a real good song.  Something cool emerged from the Centipede experiment.  Tippett was just plain awesome in K.Cs. abstract ventures. The haphazard Jazz guitar seems to be just on the verge Read more

Not alone!   Thu., Sep 13, 2012

I have always loved Lizard. I like it the best of the "early" era albums and only ever surpassed by Larks and Red. Shame the Lizard band never played live.  It would have been really something to have heard the Read more
