Quite what the punters at these gigs made of this I can’t imagine. Those expecting hundreds of notes per minute might have had a problem with this material.

Listening to it now, I find it absorbing. I find it impossible not to actively listen to these soundscapes. Having these play whilst doing other things makes the "other things" rapidly to be abandoned in favour of sitting and listening. Quite remarkable music. Highly recommended, to say the least.

This is a wonderful-sounding recording of a performance from a very experimental period in soundscapes. With its sparser tones and a prominence of piano synth notes, it’s a rather stark, minimalist, but still wonderfully moody set. It’s really less about grand sweeps and more about finer details this time - a joy for active listening. In general, this set has only a passing similarity to other available soundscapes from the G3 touring of ’97, so by all means it is a very worthwhile purchase for anyone who wants to hear yet more new sounds come out of Robert’s guitar. Lots of improv and new territory here, played honestly and developed in interesting directions.

I have downloaded quite a few soundscapes and i think this one is quite lovely, sort of a quiet space inbetween the churchscapes, the darker soundscapes earlier in the 1990s and even a little of the guitar timbre of no pussy footing. I prefer the long notes to the bell/piano notes.
