Unique addition to KC canon November 15, 2007
Written by KC_1980s
A unique take on the Thrak material which is worth hearing. Hearing slow-tempo, un-embellished versions of what would later become intricately fast exchanges is fascinating, especially if you like the creative process. It’s like the steel frame of a building before the walls go up. Unfortunately, I can’t hear the two bass players separately in this mix. From the two sticks solo, seems like Gunn is playing more ambient effects that get lost in the overall wall of KC noise. Fortunately, the jam is incredible with a groove like The Police’s Masoka Tanga. Never heard anything like this from KC before. Unfortunately, you still need another live recording from this tour to get a live rendition of "Walking on Air". All in all, this is a unique recording to put in a KC collection.
      Fresh and...funky? well, yes! October 26, 2007

This is a great one to have. On first listen, it is true the "jitters" are apparent, but that’s exciting to these ears. Of particular interest to me is the (in my opinion) underplayed and underestimated Sleepless, with that surprising but apt Latin groove. Disco, indeed. Followed by one of my favorite versions of VROOM VROOM to date, and Talking Drum at full race speed, it’s a real treat. Thanks for making this available. Viva DGM.
