Today at the Vicarage : That blasted infernal never ending Songbook # 1
There are times when I regret ever allowing my neat and orderly world to become entangled with the chaos of DGM and the inside of the Tall Pointy One’s head. And then one of his infernal songs (“Inside My Head”) enters my brain and I am reminded that this really is one of the best unpublished music catalogues. Faith is restored, and I find another space in my diary when I can slip down to Broad Chalke
This week we have produced versions of “Mama Goes Ride a Cockhorse” and “Forever”. Neither are the essential core of the catalogue – but, at present, we are forced to go where the singers’ voices take us, rather than the songs which we would like sung. Paul Ibberson had a passion for “Forever” and I trust that. There is much work to do, particularly on the piano in the chorus, but we ar begun. Again.
