      Absolutely beautiful July 21, 2008
Written by tengram
If you liked the 2005 Society for Ethical Culture gig, you’ll also totally dig this show (the SEC show has been one of my personal favorites since it was released). This show sounds kind of like the bridge between the SEC show and the late 2005/early 2006 gigs available for download here, in that you can hear Fripp beginning to make some transitions to the approach. There’s no overt sololing yet, but some of the voicing choices chart the course towards that direction. Dorky tech fan side note: I know shortly after this show, Fripp stopped using the Echoplexes, and pretty much only used them for these gigs. It would have been interesting to hear more work done with them. Ultimately, I can’t hear so much difference between his use of these and his later use of the most recent generation Eventides, so it would have been interesting to have more gigs to compare between.

This is the last soundscape available, and for that reason (mainly) I bought it. It would make sense to have these three Japan shows available as a set: they are relatively short compared to some other ones that are Read more

Thanks, very interesting and informative. Yes, musically these pieces posses the same stagnant and cold atmosphere later found on November Suite album. Nice to hear clear choral sounds again, almost completely abandoned by Fripp with some exceptions over last few Read more

Using a palette similar to November Suite, RF creates a set of 4 Soundscapes. Each one is different, and each one is worth hearing. In most cases, one can even hear the unamplified "pluck" of the guitar string before the Read more

This is an excellent soundscape recording, one of the best so far in total, and the best of this certain period around the millenium. The liner notes indicate that on this day two sets have been performed by Robert, the current Read more
