This is a defining King Crimson gig for me, showcasing the amazing double trio delivering an awesome set of powerful epics, Red, Vroom (X2), Larks Two plus some of the better 80ís classics. I can remember a spell bound audience during One Time and People and of course the splendid Walking on Air. This is the most polished Crimson and seems to see them concentrating on the material as a product, with little improvisation in the overall content. That is no loss per se, as I think these May 95 recordings will demonstrate. I took a party of five along to this evening and we all enjoyed the show immensely. Probably the best band I have ever seen live, (whilst I enjoy the John Wetton and 1980ís four piece band for entirely different reasons nand always wondered how the six piece would have played íStarlessí - perhaps the King Crimson track with the most space....
That is the wonder of Crimson - there is a band and an album for almost any mood and thanks to the incredible range of live material now available, a wealth of variety at VERY REASONABLE COST.

It was a magical evening for me. I had last seen KC at the Schaeffer on The Pier in NYC long ago. The Double Trio was in fine fettle this night and it was Billy Bís birthday too. He wore the white jacket, "the jacket that brought you LTiA".
The Double Trio really brought out the power and solemnity of their compositions and I left RAH walking on air.
I wish I had tkts for the next night too.

...it was Bill Brufordís birthday on this date. Belew mentioned this during Indicipline a couple of times. Quite amusing. This was my first KC show, and I was blown away. The order of songs and seating arrangements of the band changed in later tours. Walking On Air as the closer definitely left us wanting for more. So glad to be able to get an official recording of this after all these years!
