| Orchestral Soundscapes In Concert |
 |
| :: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., Feb 22, 2012 |
My thanks to Fred Bruinenberg for reminding the news page that tickets for the Orchestral Soundscapes concert in the Netherlands on May 6th 2012 are now on sale. The soundscapes are orchestrated by Andrew Keeling, based upon Bert Lams' transcriptions of Fripp's preferred method of making a lot of noise with one guitar. Though Robert is not performing at this concert in May it is hoped that the long-awaited CD of orchestral soundscapes performed will be available at the time.
Andrew Keeling himself has a new album of contemporary classical music out next month called Unquiet Earth. Check out the Spaceward website for further details.

Jakszyk - Working With Fripp
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Jul 12, 2011
The latest edition of Guitarist has a feature on Jakko Jakszyk and his thoughts on working with Robert Fripp. Elsewhere, A Scarcity Of Miracles continues to attract reviews; Classic Rock Presents Prog (who also ran a four page feature on the outfit in issue 17) had this to say, while Kentucky.com took this view and, further afield, Italian readers pondered this. The there was Alternative Matter, the Dutch Progressive Rock Pages and there's my own take over on the blog.

As indicated in our news item of June 13th due to the costs of preparing these shows, we are not able to offer any special offers/discounts for those who have already purchased some of these shows on previous occasions.

Bjork's Ban
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Jul 5, 2011
Bjork offers some observations about performing in Manchester with a ban on cameras and other recording equipment. "I feel since everyone has made such an effort to be there all together
at the same place and time, we might as well go for it," she says. "It
can be hard to play music for people who are filming you for Twitter or
whatever. It's like going to a restaurant with someone who keeps texting
their friends while you are speaking to them – hard to concentrate."
