My thanks to World Leader Symes who tells me "In this month's Q magazine there is an
interview with Graham Coxon, the guitarist with Blur. I think the
article is called The Soundtrack of My Life. He is holding a copy of the
album cover (vinyl!) for Court and this is what he says:
Q: What album do never tire of hearing?
King Crimson’s In The Court Of The Crimson King is an album I can become pretty obsessed with. I can’t listen to it just once, I have to listen to it again. Immediately. It has really pretty, fairy sort of songs on it and quite big ones. It’s just so exciting. It’s just my favourite things: organs, drums and guitars all going mental!

All About Discipline
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Sat., Oct 8, 2011
"Discipline stands out, along with Lizard, Islands and Starless and Bible Black, as entries which reveal so much more that they've finally become the albums they were always intended—and destined—to be." That's the verdict of John Kelman's All About Jazz on the 40th anniversary edition of Discipline. Read the whole review here.

All About Starless & Bible Black
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Fri., Oct 7, 2011
"Starless and Bible Black (40th Anniversary Series) continues
the winning combination of Steven Wilson and Robert Fripp's
reinvigoration of the Crimson catalog, and an unbroken winning streak of
definitive editions that are only predictable, at this point, in their
documentary completeness and stunning sonic clarity." So says John Kelman's All About Jazz - read the full review here.

Cassidy Goes To Court
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Oct 6, 2011
My thanks to Albemuth for flagging up this story about David Cassidy's court action against Sony. Albemuth highlights this particular quote from the story which will ring a few bells for RF diary readers."Despite promises in his 1971 contract to provide financial statements
for merchandising, Sony has "either never provided such accountings and
reports, or provided such accountings and reports only begrudgingly,
inconsistently, inaccurately and fraudulently." In a letter sent to
Sony in May, Cassidy’s attorney Craig Marshall, requested a full
accounting of the merchandise."

Aaron Jumps The Grooveshark
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., Oct 5, 2011
My thanks to David Jennings who got in touch with this career update on a member of Grooveshark's team.
Robert Fripp went through Aaron Ford’s resume/cv in his diary.
And here’s the latest update to his career path, courtesy of Digital
Music News
"Grooveshark Director of Content Acquisition Aaron Ford is now
leaving the company, according to details shared with Digital Music
News. We thought Ford had VP stripes, but that was quickly
’downgraded’... "Like many start-ups, Grooveshark is sometimes loose
with titles for lower level employees," Grooveshark general counsel
Marshall Custer corrected. "
So now Vice President and Director are "lower level employees"? Job title inflation is evidently rampant.

Bill Talks & The Humans On Tour
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Fri., Sep 30, 2011
Here’s an interview with Bill Rieflin where he talks about his work in various bands including Ministry, REM, and latterly, The Humans. Staying with The Humans, here’s a message just in...
THE HUMANS HIT THE UK ROAD AFTER TAKING NYC BY STORM After 4-star album reviews, and standing ovations in the US for their east Coast tour, Bill Rieflin, Toyah Willcox and Chris Wong hit the road in the UK for the SUGAR RUSH TOUR. The new material which will be heard live on this tour combines haunting soundscapes, edgy experiments and sweet melodies, Sugar Rush develops further the dynamic eclecticism of the band’s debut with its accessible yet uncompromising approach. Sea Of Size was one of the highlights of the set - a piece that drifted through the air and oozed a quiet sort of power. Wong, Rieflin, and the Igor with no last name created an interlocking tapestry for Toyah Willcox to glide over. Most impressive. Quicksilver and Telekinesis, both from the 1st Humans disc, were audio fairy tales for adults - bizarre little tales of life, slightly skewed. Twisted Soul led to the massively electric Put A Woman On The Moon, and the show ended with the caffeine rush of Demigod. The fun romp that was their cover of These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ served as encore. An incredible evening! Bring this band back as soon as humanly possible!” THE HUMANS second album SUGAR RUSH will be available to buy from the tour and features guest ’Human’ Robert Fripp on all tracks. A special code inside the album allows access to download three live tracks recorded at Scala London last year and featuring ROBERT FRIPP.
