Let's hear it for Cursive. Band member  Tim Kasher says "I thought King Crimson was so weird and now, I think they're phenomenal. I think now we're definitely leaning to at one part of that tradition."

More 1981 Frippertronics Go Live
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Mon., Dec 5, 2011
Alex has restored three Frippertronics concerts from Fripp's benefit gigs for the University of Pennsylvania's radio station, WXPN FM. The three concerts are available as single downloads or as a bundle.

These three concerts are significant in that Fripp recalled them during a conversation with Joe Strummer (of The Clash) and journalist Vic Garbarini printed in Musician Magazine in June 1981.

Fripp: ...A funny thing happened in Philadelphia a few weeks ago during my Frippertronics tour. I was listening and I heard the next note I had to play. And I played it. Then I heard the next note, and I played that one. I'd been waiting 23 years for that to happen..

Strummer: That’s *real* music

Fripp:...and it was the first time it ever happened to me. And I started to cry while I was playing...

S: That's it. To know where one has to go...

F: ...and it's funny, but I had to trust it. I heard the next note, and I thought well, I'll try it. Then I heard the next one and thought well, this is shit, but I thought I should trust it. So I did. And it's a question of trusting the music to play itself.

You can download all three concerts  - one on Feb 20th and two shows Feb 21st 1981- here.

Some thoughts from Robert on these gigs are contained in his diary entry for February 17th 2003.

The Berlin Guitar Ensemble (8 acoustic guitars) and 1605munro (electronic-ambient performer) will be performing at Hotel Bogota in Berlin on Sunday 10th December.

The concert, which is free (donations accepted) and starts at 8.00 p.m., is described as combining “the subtle force of Guitar Circle Circulations (each performer playing one note at a time and "passing" it to the next one) with the innovative and breathtaking pieces by 1605MUNRO, turning it all into a unique musical event”

Getting Their Grooveshark On
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Nov 24, 2011
If, as it is said, that all publicity is good publicity then Grooveshark are happy campers at the moment. There's this headline on Gizmondo, while over at Canada.com there's a more sober report. Meanwhile on Digital Trends, Grooveshark slam UMG's lawsuit as being 'blatantly false', based upon an anonymous internet comment and the 'mischaracterization' of material which Grooveshark supplied UMG which appears to show Paul Geller personally uploaded well over 3000 tracks. Well fancy that.
