And The Winner Is...
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Mon., Mar 26, 2012

Congratulations to Rick Mascarini of Milford Ohio. His name was picked out of The fickle fedora of fate and he wins a signed copy of Pat's Recidivate CD. You'll recall we asked folks to name that track from the album that included Robert's tale of the psychedelic trousers - it was (all together now) Brutal Ecstasy (with fuzzbox). Many thanks to everyone who took part. Keep your eyes peeled for another great giveaway later this week.

It Was On This Date In...
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Sun., Mar 23, 2014
The 23rd March is a significant date in the Crim calendar marking as it does the release of not just one album but two. 23rd March 1973 saw Larksí Tongues In Aspic unleashed upon an unsuspecting world. As Rolling Stone put it "You canít dance to it, canít keep a beat to it, and it doesnít even make good background music for washing the dishes."

Eleven years later, March 23rd 1984 Three Of A Perfect Pair was the culmination of what had been a very difficult recording process giving birth to the third and final studio album of the 80s incarnation of the band. Record Mirror noted "I havenít heard such a dreadful din since I tripped up over the cat last week and fell downstairs. I hate King Crimson almost as much as I hate their fellow old bores Pink Floyd."

Your thoughts and views on either of these albums are welcomed on the guestbook.

Crimson-faced Lies
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Sat., Mar 22, 2014
We've all heard of bare-faced lies but how about Crimson-faced lies? Although forgery and piracy are commonplace in Russia, the promoters in St Petersburg just flat our lied about the band who were playing there this week.

Wetton & Palmer-James
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Mar 20, 2014
Two albums featuring John Wetton and Richard-Palmer James are just about to re-issued. Jack Knife's I Wish You Would hails from 1979, a one-off project recorded between bouts with UK.  Monkey Business was originally released in 1997 and features a scrapbook of songs and musical sketches penned by Wetton and Palmer-James alongside re-recordings of Crimson tunes Doctor Diamond and Starless. You can find out more here. More up to date arisings for John can be found here where he discusses the new Asia album.

League Of Gentlemen Tour Bundle
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Mar 18, 2014
If you're a fan of The League Of Gentlemen (and you should be) then there's a treat for you in the shape of a 17-date tour bundle for just $72.00 (FLAC) or $55(MP3). The European tour begins on May 2nd in Eindhoven and ends on May 24 in Hamburg. If you've previously purchased any three of the four shows that were already on the site but want to get the bundle then you'll be entitled one free show of your choice.

If you only want one show out of this toe-tappin' bundle then I'd suggest you point your ears in the direction of the band's incendiary gig at Nuremburg.

Band Of Brothers
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Mar 18, 2014
When he's not out on the road Tony Levin is working on an album with his keyboard playing brother Pete. The jazz-orientated project is known as The Levin Brothers and you can read a bit about it on Pete's website. Meanwhile, Tony has been sent a TV clip of his younger self playing as a member of The Jazz Brothers circa 1966. Check it out on Tony's March 13th update. My thanks to davidly for that last heads-up

Anti-Copyright Anarchy
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Mar 18, 2014
My thanks to Dr Erock who writes "A TV writer lays it all out: His language is less polished than RFís. But if you wish to be an ethical listener or watcher you should be as adamant against fake-badass anti-copyright lingo being dished by people out to make a bundle from your eyeballs and clicks. And sometimes a few F-bombs have to be slung." Read Sons Of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter's take on Google's anti-copyright stance here.
