KCCC 42 Pre-order
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Jan 5, 2016
The long-awaited King Crimson Collector’s Club 42 is now available for pre-order here.

Taken together with The Champaign-Urbana Sessions (CLUB21), the work-in-progress sketches, outtakes, bright ideas, dead-ends and cul-de-sacs gathered on Rehearsals & Blows (May-November 1983) provide a kind of counter-factual, alternative history to King Crimson’s catalogue; a shadow album that traces those points where things came together or fell apart in the trying, where ideas either bloomed or withered.

Even at the best of times, when a group is riding high and firing on all creative cylinders, the process can still be something of a struggle. So when a band is in a less-than-optimal state, things can be tough. Very tough indeed. As Tony Levin notes, “In the studio it’s always a battle; wielding guitars like weapons to fight the clock, the headphone mix, budget, record company demands - we struggle to capture some of the magic that happens effortlessly every night in front of an audience.”

Speaking after the release of Three Of A Perfect Pair in 1984, Bill Bruford commented upon the album that took the group a year not so much to make as it did to find. “It did take quite a while...It’s kind of the fourth album with this version of the band. You see, we recorded one LP and more or less dumped it. We couldn’t quite see the way it was working out. When we reconvened the problems we had just evaporated! Sometimes, time is the only thing you need. Just to get away. And then suddenly the project was on its feet again and we knew where it was going and what to do.”

Signed KC Banner For Charity
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Mon., Jan 4, 2016
There’s a chance to own a real King Crimson rarity - a King Crimson banner signed by all seven members of the band - and raise money for Cancer  Research.

This banner stand was displayed in the lobby of almost all shows on King Crimson’s 2015 tours of UK, Europe, Canada & Japan.

It measures 0.8m wide x 2.0m tall and comes in a zip case.

There are a few slight dents & marks on it (it has been all over the world during it’s travels) but overall it’s in very good condition. Please see the photos.

It was signed by ALL the current band members; Robert Fripp, Mel Collins, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison, Jakko Jakszyk & Bill Rieflin in Nagoya Japan on 21st December 2015 and is being auctioned for charity with their knowledge and blessing.

The successful winner of the auction will also receive a letter of authenticity from DGM and 100% of the profits will go directly to Cancer Research UK.

The autographed KC banner stand auction is now live on Ebay at 7pm and will run for 7 days.

Pennies From Pandora
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Dec 31, 2015
The world of streaming services continues to be a somewhat uneven experience for artists. Pandora has recently been forced to up their royalty rate (thanks to Intrepid for the heads-up) and there's also news of a $150 million class action lawsuit against Spotify alleging "it knowingly, willingly, and unlawfully reproduces and distributes copyrighted compositions without obtaining mechanical licenses." Read all about it here.

Happy Birthday Peter Sinfield
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Sun., Dec 27, 2015
Peter Sinfield celebrates his birthday today. Originally a friend and song-writing partner of Ian McDonald, Sinfield first joined King Crimson as a roadie in early 1969 before going on to provide lights, lyrics and the name of the group.

Please raise a tipple of your favourite fancy and wish Peter the very best.
