Robert Remembers Uncle Bill On BBC Radio 2
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Fri., Jan 4, 2013
Robert was talking to Jeremy Vine about Alfie Fripp on Radio 2 today.

"09.56 An early call from BBC R2: would I speak to Jeremy Vine live, talking about Uncle Bill, at 13.30? How could I do otherwise?

10.23 Selecting some pix from the Uncle Bill archive and forwarding for R2’s Facebook page.

13.56 Difficult for me because I am grieving, concerned at holding it together when talking of Uncle. But the interview just done, with Uncle’s own recorded words on being shot down, which stole the show; and Heroes to play out, entirely appropriate."

You can hear Robert talking to Jeremy Vine at 1.40 minutes into today's show.

Goodbye Uncle Bill
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Jan 3, 2013
Robert writes "Squadron Leader Alfred George Fripp RAF (retired) flew from this world at 02.00 this morning, with family at his bedside. Uncle Bill was 98." Bill was known to DGMLive visitors via Robert’s diaries and his passing has been noted by BBC News.

You can see Uncle Bill, with Robert and his sister Patricia, reminiscing about his exploits in WW2 here.  Robert visited Bill in in recent weeks and notes "these recent pictures are of uncle this post november at an Aces High event. Uncle showed them to me on the last occasion I visited on december 19th. and I took quick pix."

The earlier pic is on the Stour, Wimborne, c. 1952

You Wait For A Feature On Robert Fripp...
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Jan 1, 2013
And then two come along together in the pages of  Prog and Mojo magazines which both contain new interviews with Robert Fripp.

(thanks to Anthony V Hall for sending in this picture)

Mojo offers an 8-page feature written by Mike Barnes and covers Fripp's time in Crimson as well as his various collaborations.

Prog contains a one-page piece penned by Fripp himself which asks the question What Is King Crimson? This is followed by an 11-page feature written by yours truly and centered around an interview with Robert that  focuses on the years from Court up to Larks' and the creative processes that were at work at the time. You can see some of the magazine spread over on the blog. This is followed by a 4-page appraisal of Giles, Giles & Fripp's Cheerful Insanity album by Lin Bensley, with commentary from Mike and Peter Giles.
