The Story Of The Mellotron
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., Dec 30, 2015
Here’s something to listen to as you recover from the excesses of the festive period. It’s an interview with author Nick Awde, about his 2008 book, Mellotron: the machine and the musicians who revolutionised rock, first broadcast on Resonance FM. You can listen here

Happy Birthday Peter Sinfield
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Sun., Dec 27, 2015
Peter Sinfield celebrates his birthday today. Originally a friend and song-writing partner of Ian McDonald, Sinfield first joined King Crimson as a roadie in early 1969 before going on to provide lights, lyrics and the name of the group.

Please raise a tipple of your favourite fancy and wish Peter the very best.

Peace from Osaka

The Team have been busy to bring you this wonderful song just in time to listen to while you sip a tipple of your choice and munch on a mince pie.

THRAKKIES
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Dec 24, 2015
Here's the final bunch of Thrakkies for 2015. A big thank-you to everyone who took the time and trouble of arranging their photos and sending them in.

Please keep your THRAKKIES coming - especially if you're getting it for Xmas - via competitions@dgmlive.com. In case you’ve not seen inside, you can take a look at this whistlestop video tour of the THRAK BOX and its contents.

You can buy THRAK BOX from Inner Knot (US-based customers) or via Burning Shed (UK and Europe)

First up, a twofer from Martyn in Adelaide:

Preparing for THRAKATTAKc...

and release!

We really don’t recommend trying that at home.

The arrival of the big box prompted fond memories for Colin Coates. "My Thrak Box with the "genuine" Albert Hall ticket as well as the programme opened up on the support act"

Some people, and more than a few canine chums, find THRAK a relaxing experience. "Jeff Jankowski and Vivienne have been Thraked!"

Antonio Rampini proves the THRAK BOX is an ideal accompaniment for those sessions down at the gym. “My friend Valerio Bilotti and me (Valerio is the big boy who is lifting all sort of weights) would like to send our “Thrakkie" with our THRAK boxes.Valerio had also his Thrak shirt on, a pity you can’t see him…Sort of "DoubleThrakking Under Heavy… Manners”    :)”

Bob in Wisconsin was heard to declare the arrival of the box to be "A wealth of sonic wonderment!"

Thanks to Peter in San Francisco for brilliantly upping the weird quotient in this selection of snaps. I've heard folks say that THRAK is an electric experience but is that string of Xmas lights plugging directly into Peter’s head?

Proof that there’s a whole lot of bass end on the THRAK BOX comes from Arjen, who writes “I was just packing for a concert when I received this enormous Thrak box. My cello looks tiny in comparison. Only the double-bass was big enough to hold it.”

Finally, sound engineer Eric Dochez in Lille writes “Here's the evidence that my little daughter Wanda very much loves the new King Crimson THRAK box. We love all the old King Crimson Boxes too!”

Kcritics' Kchoice
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Dec 24, 2015
The latest edition of Prog magazine contains its annual critics' choice. Amid the undoubtedly deserved garlands handed to the great and good, King Crimson picked up a couple of accolades.

First up, under the Reissues category the Jakszyk/Fripp remix of THRAK nosed ahead of some stiff competition.

Secondly, when it came to the best gig of 2015 category, King Crimson's show at Hackney Empire was reckoned to be the hottest ticket in town.

Back In Bredonborough

When Robert got home from Japan yesterday evening he was ushered straight under the mistletoe.

@toyahofficial HOME! WE ARE FAMILY XXXXX

Happy Birthday Adrian
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., Dec 23, 2015
Please point your tonsils in the direction of Nashville and give a rousing chorus of that popular ditty, Happy Birthday to Adrian Belew.

In addition to releasing an album utilising his FLUX app, Adrian will be touring Israel and Europe in the New Year. Check out dates over on his website.

Goodnight Nagoya!

Here's a snap of King Crimson taking the applause (or iphone clicks - whichever is louder) in Nagoya at the conclusion of their Japanese tour.

Thanks to Kiyotaka Hara for this.

A Round Of Applause For The Crew
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Mon., Dec 21, 2015
There's a lot of people who do a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure that the band can get on stage and do what they do best. Here's an end of tour shot of some of the folks who made the shows in Japan an enjoyable experience.

A Message From Jakko
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Mon., Dec 21, 2015
This was originally posted on Jakko's Facebook page not too long before the band are due to play their last show of the year.

Tonight is our final show of 2015 here in Nagoya and an end to the process that began in rehearsals back in August.

I'd like to thank Robert for the opportunity, to my band mates for their support and companionship and, in the case of Gavin, relentless sarcasm!

I'd also like to thank our fantastic crew. I won't name them all......frankly I can't remember their names or be arsed to check the itiner
ary! (That's a joke incidentally, before anyone gets on my case) in particular John who looked after my guitars and gear, Mark for his attention to detail out front, Kat for looking after us and our stuff and Dave for not only running everything smoothly, but being a genuine Liverpool fan that I can Lord over after our 3 -0 thrashing of them yesterday (come on you Horns!)

Big thanks too, to Yoshi & Issy here in Japan and Julie who also translated the opening of 'Peace' into Japanese for me.

Lastly the thousands who came and clapped and cheered
It's been a privilege
Can't wait till next year!!
Happy Christmas
