CAUGHT IN THE CROSS FIRE

When David Cross fans bought Closer Than Skin by David Cross in the iTunes store they got a bit more than they bargained for.  My thanks to Teetotum for reporting on this case of mistaken identity.

"Fans of comedian, actor and writer David Cross (who he? born 1964) have impulsively purchased the full album Closer Than Skin by Crim alumnus David Cross from the iTunes store!  Expecting to hear ribald stand-up comedy routines, instead they have downloaded sinewy fiddle-flavoured flurries!  Oops! David’s music isn’t quite some people’s  cup of tea.

The "explicit"  jester’s  fandom are practically posting "For shame, for shame, iTunes, for letting the musician David Cross appear on your site. His music is a bad joke, and you’ve played a trick on us."

A casual entry of the name David Cross at iTunes will display the two fellows on the same page, but both are described as in very different fields of endeavor. Without a modicum of inspection, the comedy fans have clicked on anything they  believe their funny man David Cross has created. The top-loaded Closer Than Skin reviews at  iTunes are hostile, yet chortle-worthy in themselves."

Anyone not familiar with the Closer Than Skin album should check it out right now.  Arguably David’s best post-Crimson release, it has some superb playing from David himself and one of the most ingenious  samples of LTIA pt2  that I’ve ever heard.  My review can be found here and you can check out David’s Myspace site as well as his main website for more details.
