:: Posted by Sid Smith on Tue., Aug 25, 2015
John Wetton has announced that he will start a programme of chemotherapy tomorrow following the discovery of cancer.

Writing on his Twitter account, @arkangel2605, John says:

"I start chemo 2moro--I urge everyone to be checked for cancer regularly, ’cause cancer growth is rapid--and before you know it--agonising."

This announcement itself follows John’s surgery in May this year where a malignant tumour was removed.

Please send John your good wishes via his management at jw@qedg.co.uk

In The Court Of The Crimson King 2015
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Thu., Aug 20, 2015
King Crimson have been working on adding some classic KC repertoire to the setlist for their forthcoming UK tour. Robert writes "So, Easy Money and In The Court Of The Crimson King are two of the four KC classic repertoire pieces currently being rehearsed; in addition to three new full-group pieces - Radical Action (To Unseat The Hold Of Monkey Mind), Meltdown, Suitable Grounds For The Blues - plus a Drumsonising or two." You can watch Robert explain the problems of trying to play a track such as In The Court Of The Crimson King in New Standard Tuning over on the DGM Youtube channel.

The View From Trev's Office...
:: Posted by Sid Smith on Wed., Aug 19, 2015
Trev Wilkins, whose been looking after Robert Fripp’s rig and much else besides, has posted this update on the rehearsals.

So yesterday there were a few problems with Robert Fripp’s guitar rig (Sirius Probe) but after much techy searching and tweaking and fiddling it turned out to be the Eventide 8000’s had reset to factory defaults which didn’t work at all for his requirements. It took a while to find the fault but the MIDI settings were all wrong which was the pointer to the problem.

It turned out the Bypass control was set wrong for what we need so it was muting the input when it should have been bypassing it. The units were receiving all MIDI data and going into what I call ’fruit machine’ mode where they roll around loading presets. A bit technical but once re-programmed in the menu system it worked again as it should.

The rig is very complex so fault finding isn’t easy as everything has a ’knock on’ effect on the rest of the system. Anyway, the fix worked and today it has run without problems.

This meant I could finish a bit earlier tonight and have dinner with the American ’rhythm’ contingent. Always a good night out with a very nice (and talented) bunch of guys. Add to this the fact that we’ve found a really nice little family run Italian restaurant and a cheap cab firm and we’re in a good place for the ongoing rehearsals.

The band seemed to be finding their feet musically today, so all is good at this point in time. New and very listenable material is sitting alongside some seriously classic Crimson tracks so this will definitely be a great tour for all of the fans. I expect that if there was a fan set list, this would be it!

Seems a long way off at the moment but looking forward to hitting the road now.

Onwards!
