2 OF A PERFECT TRIO IN ATLANTA

My thanks to Lee Landenberger for sending me this account of the first night of the 2 of a Perfect Trio tour

"Opening night of the Two of a Perfect Trio tour featuring the Adrian
Belew Power Trio and Tony Levin's Stick Men was pretty much like the
name implies -- perfect.

Stick Men stormed through a 45-minute set that included Super Collider
and a slice of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, nimbly handling some tricky material with plenty of joy and no visible jitters.

A 10-minute break later found the Power Trio thundering across some older songs like Young Lions and some newer ground like e. After a 15-minute
break, both bands returned and morphed into a double trio that meshed perfectly as they stonked through King Crimson favorites such as Sleepless, Indiscipline, and Thela Hun Ginjeet.

It's miraculous that on an opening night both bands handled such difficult material with such seeming ease. When they took their final bow of the evening, it was smiles all around. The first night was done and well dusted. Nearly two and a half hours of great prog rock had gone off loudly, smoothly, and perfectly.

Sure, the spirit of Robert Fripp hung over the entire evening. It would have been great if he'd been there, but it wasn't necessary.

By the way, the Variety Theater here in Atlanta wasn't quite sold out. It's not a beautiful place, but Adrian Belew and King Crimson have played there many times. The acoustics are fabulous in there. No wonder they keep coming back."
