20.46 World HQ. This morning began at Chateau Minx, Chiswick. T set off for Milton Keynes, myself to Rickmansworth: lunch with Mel Collins. Mel is one year younger than I am, and looks 14 years younger. A very good catching-up across a whole range of shared history, current & future arisings. Then to DGM, arriving in time to have a good touching-base with David. On my desk: a pile of various, including ace coffee from Vienna, sent by the Carlyles, and two bottles of Chateau Schizoid, from Amy & the Inner Knot team. Desk… Chateau Schizoid… Online for the first time since Sunday morning. Yow! (Almost) Always Off Line: in response to postings to the DGML Guestbook, this is what happens: AOL opens; I am able to send mail; when I open the mailbox, AOL crashes (also on other computers). Even when AOL is online, there is no WWW access. Using Safari to access AOL UK & sign on, the screen name register won’t & doesn’t: it goes into a fluster & goes nowhere. Using Firefox to access my screen name via AOL UK, I can both receive & send mail. So, Firefox is a reliable default setting to get e-mail, but it’s not the preferred option. 21.33 Now online directly to AOL. 00.05 An e-frenzy of moderately heroic proportions has halved the in-box.
