Change a few names, and this could be a description of the music industry. Hey! That’s an idea – a detailed exposure of music industry practices on the same scale as the reporting on NewsCorp, parliamentary expenses, the financial industry et al.

Back on the street…

… and home for e-flurrying. To a journalist…

have been enjoying the Weekend FT this morning at blower's over morning coffee.

as you presciently commented, it is now possible to have a debate.

i was interested in the comment that libor was an open secret. similarly in the music industry: everyone knows the practices, of management, accounting, downloads, but until the light of day shines upon it, the rule is: get on and do whatever you like and deal later. knowing that the rule of law will protect most of the malfeasors. and i have just begun Ferdinand Mount’s new book: The New Few.

one point for you: mr. alder, in the days when he was a player, his affairs were less known and he was active in defending his name and personal honour, he threatened Music Week and the Evening Standard with libel suits to push them off. Music Week asked me to substantiate their position with documentary evidence. i did, effectively. most of this is already in my online Diary. i'll send you a document with various info in it, just to put behind your ear.

on several google searches for mr. alder, the Diary is now the top hit.

and the sun is even shining...
