Today is Sister Patriciaís birthday. I came in from the garden at 14.00 local time to call her and wish her well on rising for the day in San Francisco.

The sun has been shining for some of the day, but cold it is. When moving to a new home, particularly where work is needed, better to do as little as possible for two years and allow the spirit of the place to speak. At Reddish I would look at a part of the garden and, one day, a picture would come to mind. Yesterday a picture came to mind, unexpectedly, for the garden here in West Dorset. So, I walked up and looked around. The form of the space is becoming increasingly well determined in my mindís eye, and some first planting is underway: a holly and yew corridor. These will be followed by more yew hedging in the next 12 months, to define a series of garden rooms. Imaginatively, a rill cascades gently down the corridor while I sit at the bottom looking south and up, drinking cappucini while reflecting, reading & QWERTYising.

A boldstep for my life in England: this morning I set up a folding table for manuscript book & pencil, took guitar to hand, and allowed the mass of paper to wait until now. My correspondence is exceptionally broad. It includes anonymous letters presenting instructions & injunctions on how I should - and must - behave, unsolicited letters from people touched by music & with difficulties in life, unsolicited letters from those who want something (mostly attention), Crafties who are having various difficulties (mainly authentic), Crafties who are reporting in on the progress of various exercises, plus the ongoing life of the professional musician & Crimson matters, and issues for a MPPARHVL.

The Horse is back from rehearsals with a company and director suffering from Devil Bug, which is attacking Toyah as well. Erratum: her co-actor is Cathy Tyson, not Cicely Tyson as reported recently by the Witless MPPARHVL. Toyah is now off for a tv show this evening. And why work only two jobs simultaneously when there are three available? Her energy continues to amaze.

An e+telephonic flurry is now subsiding. Matters Crim 1969, Summer touring for Crim 2001, and a chatty catch-up with John Wetton, who is pleased with Mainz.
