17.27 Bredonborough. A sudden arising at 07.30: water dripping into T’s office from the ceiling, and landing on her most valued & important personal papers, including her letters from Derek Jarman & Lord Olivier. The water came through the ceiling…
… dripping onto the carpet…
… collectors’ chest with papers inside & on top…
They were taken to the kitchen for drying…
This was a quiet tragedy. A call to M. le Fromage Grand who hurtled here from his breakfast tea & dealt. The cause of the problem: a rusted washer on the inflow to the upstairs toilet. Simply, it was worn out & died during the night. Dealing with this, other stuff, and e-flurrying to address various future arisings. Today, it feels as if there has been a death in the family. Shortly, off to dinner with the Crooks to address life & its living within the family.
