Today at the Vicarage : The Vicarage.

7.15 am. A cold, wet and windy morning on the trail. I remain unconvinced that any new found fitness is arriving. Perhaps I am merely slowing the onset of unfitness.

10.00 am. An email has swooped in from Ozzie Richardson, with a new Vicar bible for Channel Four. They had apparently mislaid the previous version. Let us trust the process, and assume that the amendments were necessary.

Meanwhile, strange noises continue to emanate form the bedroom where Punk is pouring his heart onto a DAT machine. Tuneless singing, with atonal guitar playing. And yet….And yet, there is music. Whether there are people prepared to give it ears remains to be seen. And it remains most unlikely that anyone will be sufficiently misguided to actually offer him money.

3.30 pm. A discussion with Fripp about his ongoing audits. Neither is fully resolved. There is an outline agreement with Virgin, although the accompanying paperwork has not appeared sixteen days later. With BMG, there remains a gulf. The incompetence in their US office beggars belief, and it is possible that the company is simply unable to face the enormity of what has happened. Or, more correctly, not happened – namely collecting money at the correct rates, and paying it to the writer using the correct contract. There is only one mistake – the failure to learn from a mistake. BMG conducted an internal inquiry into these issues in 1996, and yet six years later, the pattern repeats itself.

On a musical note, Toyah has voted that HWWYHTBHW and TPTB "have the juice". I am incline to agree. The new KC material will yet surprise us all.
