It not our aim to drive out noise. It is our aim is to invite in Silence.
Morning Sitting at 07.15.
Breakfast at 08.00. A drama-presentation - to demonstrate the proposition that both authority & democracy limit Music entering our world! - coincided with an important meeting that just came up between Director Nunez & Robert. Both left in a hurry, even unseemly haste, to keep their appointment with each other.
09.52 Much zinging in the extended Guitar Circle.
10.03 The eternal meeting…
12.15 Four good personal meetings. Real questions, based in experience & driven by necessity.
13.06 T’ai Chi at 12.30 in the coldest grove known to mosquitoes.
Lunch is delayed.
15.09 Lunch late at 13.13. A performance by members of the Beginners’ Group of a piece planned by several of them in anticipation of a performance-challenge. It was of the repeated-motifs variety, meriting some singing-along & rhythmic accompaniment from around the tables.
18.23 Tea at 16.00.
Personal meetings from 17.00.
20.39 T’ai Chi at 18.30.
Dinner at 19.00. Washing-up volunteering so the Performance Team could concentrate on their preparations.
22.35 Onstage at 21.16 for a performance that was, in places, astonishing. One trio piece was so astonishing an audient requested them to perform it again, straightaway, and they did. It was no less astonishing the second time.
The Performance Team left and were asked to return & do it all again, immediately: which they did. The astonishing trio piece, once again, was requested to be played again. It was, and as astonishing the fourth time as the first, second and third time. Astonishing.
The audience demanded an encore. As there was no encore prepared, a form of circulating was presented. Then, leaving the ballroom, the Team were unable to get out: the door handle appeared to be stuck, surprisingly from the outside. The Team broke into their group piece until finally the door came loose & they were able to depart.
Overall performance 09.16 - c.22.15. Quite an hour. The audience were good-humoured and supportive in a gentle way. A few flash photographers & a bootlegger impinged upon the performers; and someone with either a personal problem or access to Fart Machine II (with added bass bevoomerance) contributed interjections from time to time.
All in all, astonishing & lotsa fun. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you.
