15.15
DGM HQ.
A sunny day along the valley I…
II...
Rising at 06.55 to a morning of data ordering. My digital space closely resembles the physical space: it’s a mess. Too much traveling for too many years.
Now in DGM SoundWorld I with David…
… mastering Travis & Fripp – Live In Malaga (Second Night) for download. The good burghers of Malaga who went out for an evening of culture with their wives & the Mothers of their Wives, had a hard time of it, particularly on the first night. The second night may have been as hard for the burghers, but was subjectively better for the performers.
16.15 Superb. A much better listen here than in the car. The mixes were mainly mon-ish. They are now stereo-ish. T&F seem to have gently appeared in public, moving from nowhere.
18.45 David has just left. He is off to London tomorrow for an accountants’ meeting. Apparently, both DGM & my personal company are solvent. May we note: this has little to do with the timely & equitable payment of sums owed by large players in the music industry. Actually, it has nothing to do with timely & equitable payments by anyone other than DGM & its distributor.
Many books have been written on music – the philosophy of, sociology of, interpretation of, spirituality of, psychology of, practice of, with many more ologies & isms available. Many of these have I read (albeit a trifling proportion of what is available). Many books have also been written on the business of music. Very few of these available tomes provide a satisfactory account of the life of the working player, even a successful working player, placed in the second half of the 20th. century. That is, an account that satisfies my own requirements: a total picture of what is involved, from heaven to earth including what is in between.
Part of that total picture is usually concealed, airbrushed out, and/or relegated to a dark corner at the back. Part of that picture is almost impossible to depict and, where so, very difficult to convey. And all is experientially available to the extent we are ourselves available, and willing, to follow where it all leads.
An evening computing ahead.
