Rising to a frosty bowling green opposite I…

… and Dartmoor breeze of the –C variety blowing through the unclosing window.

Loaded the car, to tasty croissants of wonderment over a not-reading breakfast of deprivation & cruelty. Such are the works of heroism. Temperature at -2C leaving for work c. 09.15, and a little slithering up icy Dartmoor lanes here to Monk’s Withecombe.

14.06    A morning through-listen to ITWOP – the album.

Pictures Of A City, Cadence & Cascade, Peace A Theme, Cat Food & Groon are superb, and have never sounded better at any time I have listened to them, including in the studio when they were recorded. Taken together, these are half of the wonderful second KC album that didn’t. ITWOP – the song is now listenable, even enjoyable, but not classic.

The Devil’s Triangle: a suite in 3 parts. The first part is now listenable, and not bad. The second is barely listenable, but I would rather not. The third is listenable & begins well, but I am then grateful when it goes away. I would happily delete this from the album. But, while this is acceptable on a compilation, it’s not acceptable when re-presenting the album.

14.54    Mastering alternative takes of the first two verses of Formentera Lady. For completists & process-analysts only.

16.17 An early take of The Letters, then Ladies Of The Road.

Now – an untitled instrumental turns out to be early drafts of LTIA Part One & Lament. Those ideas didn’t catch with this band.

16.48    Onto added tracks for Beat. An extended version of Requiem has the complete Frippertronics loop that provided the underscore. Plus an energetic instrumental work-out, a backing track, that didn’t go further.

17.03    Done.

Off to Bredonborough.

20.54    Arriving c. 19.35 to be met by the Minx & WillyFred. WillyFred is ready to play & to be admired, even to accept a measure of adoration I…
