… who, at 5 months, is already a human being. Of course he’s human! exclaimed Luke’ s Sister Anna. What to say in reply to this? Perhaps, I have met people of all ages who do not strike me as quite having yet become human beings.
Q. Hey! You heartless, raring, hubristic old goat! You’ve been on the road too long! Just because you’re dissed on a regular basis by innocent audients, managers & industry characters – who only want to earn a reasonable return on their exploitation & weasel words! And how would you know, anyway?
A. I apply simple benchmarks of conduct that are reliably indicative of quality & degree. The cakes were well received by Willises of all ages except Luke, who was satisfied with what Mother had to provide. When I am dead and very long gone (those who already believe this to be the case have already been forgiven) Peter & Jo’s children will have forgotten everything about that strange little man who used to visit their Parents, except one thing – he arrived bearing cakes. As an epitaph, that would work for me: he did nothing but bring sweet things; but there will be insufficient room on the tombstone to add and eat a lot of them too, particularly cream-filled apple turnovers & cheesecake. Peter, a Brother along the Way for now 34 years & a Deacon in the Russian Orthodox Church, continues to inform & instruct me in many & varied ways. One very simple lesson, demonstrated without any intention to do so, is the power of love within the family; so simple, so rare. A second way is by brining me up to date on current Orthodox thinking & varying manifestations. A third way is to present various insights & arisings in Peter’s own life. Peter’s many responsibilities keep him from his studio & painting, where several pieces are under slow development… The piece on the right continues a line of exploration that some Diary visitors may recognise (in the symbol) from the cover of TOAPP. The piece on the left is a beginning-declaration of the event of Luke entering the world. Left Falmouth c.16.30 & at DGM HQ by19.50. Observation: there is much less traffic on the roads than has reliably been the case, until very recently. An evening of computing ahead, followed by…
