Notes
After a truly rhapsodic beginning from a clearly revved-up Fripp, Belew, Levin and Bruford add to a glowering improvisation which lifts the lid on an energetic show. Whilst LTIApt3 doesn’t alway have the bite one hears in other shows it functions as a superb loosening up exercise, enabling the players a bit of room to find focus and engage.

The bootleg quality means that some of the nuances contained within the music are blurred somewhat. Nevertheless Bruford’s drumming throughout is full-blooded and bordering on the ecstatic, as he makes the weather in several of the older items in the repertoire - Thela and Indiscipline stand out particularly - and adds a real sparkle to the newer material taken from the just-released, Three Of A Perfect Pair album.

“Are you warm, happy?” asks Belew of an an enthusiastic crowd. “Me too!” replies the consummate showman. It’s true; his energy levels throughout the show are close to manic, and on tracks such as Satori and Sleepless, threaten to go off the Richter scale completely - especially on the sci-fi solo during TOAPP.

Although their occasional tuning problems (a result of poor monitor mixing) Crimson get up to take-off velocity around about the stark perspectives of Industry, with a sadly incomplete LTIA pt2 really blasting on all fronts. Poor sound quality but you can still hear a band really going for it.

Love this show. Missing here is the bit near the end which sounds like an overenthusiastic/ stroppy SDSU official cut the power and Ade telling the audience "We came here to play for you, and play we will" (I’m paraphrasing here).

Tons of fun.
