Notes
A final recording from Fripp’s stint in South America with the League of Crafty Guitarists and it’s another of what Robert describes as a soundsculpture.

Unlike the previous sculpture from the 8th June at ND Ateneo, things here are not so terse or angular. The individual components of the piece are easily identifiable: voices, synth-bass, bells, strings and a sonar-type ping that echoes off into space. Taken together it builds up to a small but perfectly focused ambient album.

With the cycle of differing loops always moving in complimentary directions, the atmosphere throughout is both balanced and serene. Music for your equilibrium indeed.

Overall, a good show to a good audience, with some strangenesses.

Like the young man who wandered in, his handycam held to his chest, and sat in the middle section of the front row. I found myself on my feet, walking offstage while The LCG were playing, and removing the handycam from him. Apparently, house security let him in because they assumed, with handycam on such bold display, that he was with us. This is the kind of security-judgement made by venues, indicating the kind of security that venues provide & which we are asked to accept as secure. The young man wanted his handycam returned & was willing to pay a fine to get it. His fine: take no further interest in RF’s life or work.

Our final meeting, after supper. Two comments were made. The first, on the joy of circulations. The second, on the value of paying attention to the first footstep into the theatre, the first footstep onto the stage, and listening to our first note.

Completion was declared for the performance part of this tour, this course-on-the-road, at 23.49.

Sometimes in Soundscapes Robert Fripp returns to the sounds which he was using in the past but which are still fascinating. It seems that some of the effects are still available in his equipment despite its constant change and evolution. The choir effect first appearance was at the time of That Which Passes and the Double Trio preformances. For me the soundscape interlude of This Night Wounds Time and the whole November Suite album are still one of the most impressive (and sometimes even scary) moments of KC/RF music. Here, this ambiguous mood somewhere between darkness and beauty gently arises again.
