Sadly this concert appears missing the opening couple of numbers and indeed the opening bars of TCOL. That means there's no official record of Larks 1 Level 5 mini-epic at this concert. Yet there are other moments to tempt the listener. For example the middle section of Thela presents us with an astonishing dog fight between Mastelotto and Belew who rumble, tumble and tangle with each other, pushing and shoving around the sonic stage. It's an example of how exhilarating Crimson can be and in the moments where you least expect it. A turbulent Level 5 provides lots of thrills and spills and there are times when it sounds as though the band aren't quite in control of the thing they've unleashed. The segue into Virtuous Circle is quite beautiful, as is the momentary frisson between Fripp's dreamy solo and the Mastelotto-triggered Jamie Muir aerophones. A bruising LTIA IV also provides plenty of those moments when you're taken aback at what the band are managing to do. Turbo-charged doesn't quite capture it really.
