Notes
“Another good night. We didn’t have a big a turn out as last night due to the Chicago Bulls being in the basketball play-offs tonight. But, the crowd that did have was very into the show. We mixed up the set again with a totally new beginning and fired away” says Trey in his diary. The second night at Park West really has the boys going for it and to these ears it has the edge over the first night documented on KCCC33. As dynamic as Live Groove is, Fripp really revs it up a notch or two on this version of Heavy ConstruKction with Gunn getting all heavy metal during his solo section.
With any improvised music, a leap of faith is always required and although Light ConstruKction never quite convinces, the awesome tones of Sus-tayn-Z should make a beliver out of anyone who comes into earshot. This rhapsodic playing is worth the price of admission alone. “The second set had some strong atmospheres. Very strong, indeed” reckons Trey. Thrush proves a strong opener but it’s the cat and mouse games of House II that’ll put a smile on your face as Fripp and Gunn run rings around each other.

Written by mflaherty
I’ve always thought the nights I saw P2 were better than the originally released material, but I couldn’t be sure.  After all, sitting in Park West those two evenings, I was hearing these very familiar themes for the first time--and being completely blown away.

The release of the June 4 show confirmed this suspicion, but I was quite surprised when the Thursday night show was released by the club as I remembered the Friday as being better.  I was right, I do like this one more, and, judging from his comments, so does Sid Smith.

It’s a standard P2 set, and those who don’t like P2 or feel they’ve got enough by them probably don’t need this one.

That said, they’re burning here, I for me this is the best P2 available yet--possibly ever.  Robert and Trey’s solos in particular are outstanding.  If you want one more P2 ....
